This song has taken a lot of forms since I wrote the initial skeleton of it back in probably...LATE 2013? I think it's a good thing I sat on it for so long because only in 2015 could this song have taken this form. This is some Perfect Cell business. At 255-260 BPM this might be the fastest song I've written yet dang. I had to like, get really hyper and excited in order to get my heart rate up so I could do the upstrokes part on guitar! Then I got too excited and then it seemed slow...
Life is super hard and dumb sometimes. But it's also pretty awesome A Lot Of Times! It's really easy to get stuck in your comfort zone but it's super important to push yourself towards the things you want and be strong and work hard for your own sake. If you find someone that you love, people that you feel good around, that accept you, that plus you, that inspire you, that excite you, that you connect with, that you could see yourself getting stuck in traffic with and yelling dumb songs together, then fight for them! Remember the people that make you feel that way, and remember that You Belong! Let's be losers and giant nerds together.
Also, props to William for providing trumpet on the finale and props to everyone that lent their voices for this, I can pick out everybody's voice... !
lyrics
When I got up today, I faced what I had planned to do
I got out of bed and I went to the airport, to travel far away to a place I'd never ever been
It's so easy to be afraid of the effort it takes to finally get what you want,
But I made it there and I didn't die, my bus didn't crash into the pacific ocean
my laptop didn't get stolen, I didn't lose my wallet and I had a place to sleep that night.
You're not alone in loving all the trivial things you ever cared about, like crying over JRPGs in your backyard or yelling pop punk so loud your voice breaks in a karaoke room at 2am in little tokyo.
some good food, some bad laughs, some nice friends, we're all losers in the end and its so so simple just don't ever forget:
oh gods, this album was so influential to me when I was younger. helped me through school. then later helped me through finding my identity. the8thworld
